This study contains a summary related to the coin chest offered to King Luís by A. Marques Pereira, Portuguese counsel-general in Siam, at the end of the 19th century. This coin chest was originally used to store the set of porcelain pieces from Siam that made up the royal collection on display at the Ajuda Palace, today one of the core pieces of the coin collection held by Museu Casa da Moeda (Portuguese Mint Museum).
