This study presents a summary of the main characteristics of the King Sancho II morabitino, a unique piece in the world that forms part of the Casa da Moeda Museum. The author takes a reading of its faces and sets them in the context of the coin’s production and circulation. He draws attention to the meaning of this piece as the bearer of political language linked to the naming of King Sancho II as the King of the Portuguese People, and not as King of Portugal.
